In the final few months, leading up to the wedding day, there are so many final pieces and loose ends that are being tied up. From alterations, to hotel accommodations, but most importantly, the wedding day timeline. Your wedding timeline helps your vendors know when they need to be ready and have you ready for the next thing on your agenda. It is important to show your photographer ahead of time so they can fit in time for family and couple portraits.
Here's an example of a wedding timeline:

The second thing we need from you is a “must take shot” list. That is a list of photos you want your photographer to take throughout the wedding day. An example would be something sentimental sewn into your dress or the details on the bottom of your shoes. Or a fraternity shot with the groom during the reception.

And lastly! The last thing your photographer needs from you is to provide us with a “family photo” list. Over the course of a wedding day, the most tedious part of the day is the family portraits. To make this run as smoothly as possible we ask for a list of must have photos.
You should start working on a family photo and must take shot list anywhere from 2-6 months before the wedding. Jack and I encourage our clients to provide the family photo list at least one month prior, no later than 2 weeks before the wedding so we can confirm the time allotted in the schedule is right.
